On January 23, the Auxiliary participated in the launch of “Volunteer Sunshine Coast”, an initiative initiated by the SC Resource Centre to set up a registry where individuals can find information about potential volunteer experiences and organizations can search for qualified volunteers.
They will also sponsor educational workshops to support the volunteer experience. We were part of a panel discussion and presented information on volunteer recruitment, training, mentoring, recognition and exposure. We identified communication, an aging volunteer base and leadership as our three major challenges.
