The SC Healthcare Auxiliary Thrift Store on Cowrie Street in Sechelt, is your community thrift store with a 100% volunteer base that ensures all profits return back into the community for essential healthcare programs.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who supports the SC Healthcare Auxiliary, whether through donations, shopping at our stores, or participating in our fundraising events, we couldn’t do it without you!

Recently the store has become a target of theft and vandalism including broken windows and locks, damage to buildings and theft during operating and after hours. It is frustrating and disheartening to know that each dollar spent on repairs is diverting funds away from our mission to enhance healthcare on the coast.

To address your safety and the security of Thrift Store donations, we kindly ask that your items be dropped off only when volunteers are present, Monday to Sunday from 9 am to 2:30 pm.

On a brighter note, our 2025 fundraising efforts allowed the SCHA as a whole, including the Thrift Store, Gift Shop and Loan Cupboard to contribute over $14,000 to local food banks and an impressive $178,546 to healthcare initiatives, programs, medical equipment, and education. This collective effort underscores the power of the SC Healthcare Auxiliary and its community support. Additionally, our Loan Cupboard service located in the Sechelt shíshalh Hospital continues to thrive, offering free medical aids to residents in need along the coast.

As we look ahead, we remain optimistic and are proactively addressing safety and security protocols in the Thrift Store to move with these changing times.

Thank you,
Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary
