Roberts Creek Auxiliary member Liz Prosch recently approached the Craft Group with an interesting assignment.

Janet and Michael

Janet and Michael

An old doll had resurfaced which had belonged to her 90 year old sister, Janet Whitrow, who lives in Caronport, Saskatchewan. Janet had the doll when she was a little girl in the 1920’s, a gift from an aunt in Toronto. Liz requested some new clothes be made for the doll we thought was named “Elsie”. An outfit was knitted by Marion Jolicoeur, and the doll was  then packaged and mailed to Janet. Fortunately the outfit was fairly”unisex” as “Elsie” turned out to be “Michael”, and according to he family there in Saskatchewan, Janet was pleased to see him again. Liz and Janet have both made generous donations to the Auxiliary, and we are very pleased with this joyous reunion. So where is “Elsie”? We’ll keep you posted, but if she turns up, she’ll no doubt need a new outfit too. Marion would be pleased to make more dolls’ clothes, either sewn or knitted, in return for donations to the Auxiliary.
