Highlighting Karen Archer – Karen has been a valued member of the SCHA for over 25 years.

Sunshine Coast Community Services Society are excited to highlight our former Executive Director Karen Archer, a dedicated community leader, volunteer, and one of the 50 Women for SCCSS supporting our Building Together project this year!
Karen retired early after a successful 25-year career in human resources management. Together with her husband Ian, she relocated from North Vancouver to the Sunshine Coast in 1997 and immediately began contributing her time and expertise to the community.
Karen served as a director of Sunshine Coast Credit Union from 1997 to 2012, as a director of Sunshine Coast Community Services from 1999 to 2005 (including three years as chairperson), and as co-chairperson of the Sunshine Coast Resource Centre from 2005 to 2011.
In 1998, Karen joined the Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary, where she continues to play key roles on their education and granting committees. She has also served on the provincial healthcare association as the Director of Communications.
Karen shares, “My favourite role is to be a great-grandmother to two beautiful five-year-old children – both live on the Coast!”
