The 70th Annual Conference of the British Columbia Association of Healthcare Auxiliaries was held in Kelowna, April 28 to 30.

A warm welcome to the over 300 attendees was given by our patron, Lieutenant Governor, The Honorable Judith Guichon, OBC. The keynote speaker, David MacLean, delivered a memorable talk on “There is no ‘just a’ in volunteer”.

The following days provided an opportunity for our fifteen local auxiliary members to attend seminars on such topics as – Dementia Among Us, Conflict Resolution, Fraud Awareness and Powers of Attorney.

There was a specialized forum for the presidents, as well as ones for the thrift store and gift shop personnel. The conference theme of strengthening connections by building strategic alliances, enhancing relationships with other healthcare communities and embracing digital technology are well established in our Sunshine Coast community.

The closing banquet evening was filled with laughter, as we were surprised with a guest appearance by Elvis!
